Who We Are: A borough-wide initiative promoting inclusive neighbourhood participation.
Islington Street Associations began with Nicky Ludgate, a well-known and beloved community organiser from Islington who teamed up with experienced volunteers from around the neighbourhood, and residents of Elmore Street – the street on which Islington Street Associations first stepped foot, to encourage residents to get together and create a happier, safer and better connected street on which they live.
Islington Street Associations now comprises of six Street Associations: Elmore Street, Elizabeth Avenue & Yeate Street, Halliford Street, Cleveland Road, Almorah Road and Bentham Court.

We inspire residents across Islington to make their streets more friendly, supportive, and connected — places where people feel they belong, make friends, enjoy activities together, and look out for one another.
We encourage residents to play an active role in shaping their community life — both socially and civically. By partnering with local networks, organisations, and government, we help residents influence services and make lasting improvements to their neighbourhoods.
We work to bridge gaps between ages, backgrounds, and cultures, helping reduce isolation and strengthen neighbourhood safety. Our focus is on creating streets where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported — street by street.
Islington Street Associations began with local organiser Nicky Ludgate, who united passionate volunteers and residents on Elmore Street to build a happier, safer, and more connected community. Today, ISA has grown to include six Street Associations: Elmore Street, Elizabeth Avenue & Yeate Street, Halliford Street, Cleveland Road, Almorah Road, and Bentham Court.
We proudly work with organisations that share our mission of creating safer, friendlier, and more connected neighbourhoods. Their support helps us bring community ideas to life and strengthen streets across Islington.
